GENERAL INFORMATION ON PLETTENBERG BAY
Plettenberg Bay is a nature lovers dream – miles of golden
beaches, echo tourism, action adventures and unforgettable
views. With good weather during the year and a peaceful &
undisturbed atmosphere – you will definitely return for future
visits.
The complete picture of the half-moon bay that lies
back to back with the endless warm Indian ocean, rocky peninsulas
and soothing lagoons – makes Plettenberg Bay the ideal holiday
destination.
Plett is situated alongside the wide, well-maintained national
route N2, about 550 km east of Cape Town and 250 km west of
Port Elizabeth - either way, a pleasant and easy drive through
truly beautiful countryside. The town boasts a small domestic
airport, with larger airports at George (90 km) and Port
Elizabeth (250 km).

THE ELEPHANT SANCTUARY
Elephants are highly intelligent and delightful and you will
discover a different character, personality and temperament within
each one. We are a family orientated operation catering for the
young and old. Our focus is on education through interaction, so
you will not only learn a lot about elephants, but also get to
touch, feel, feed, walk trunk-in-hand and even ride these
magnificent animals.

boat based whale & dolphin encounters. From a deep sea adventure

Ocean Blue is a licensed SABBWWA permit holder,
which enables us to approach whales from 50 metres instead of
300 metres. Should the whales approach our vessel we do not have
to move away. The guests therefore get an up close experience
with these majestic mammals in the bay.

BIRDS OF EDEN
BIRDS OF EDEN, IS THE GARDEN ROUTE’S VERY OWN WORLD CLASS FREE FLIGHT BIRD SANCTUARY.
The unique two hectare dome (the World’s largest) spans over a gorge of
indigenous forest. The sanctuary has its own mysterious ruin, which
incorporates a walk-behind waterfall. Another feature is its amphitheatre,
which has the ability to seat over 200 visitors.

HIKING
Plett is surrounded by nature reserves and National Parks - which is
Perfect, because it means you'll find many well-maintained hikes and
short walks scattered throughout the area.
- The Robberg Nature Reserve is by far our most popular walking
destination, with three trails to choose from - ranging from 45
minutes to 5 hours (9,2 km) in length. Guided tours are also
available (Robberg: 10 km / 10 minutes from Plett Central).
- Other walks include Kranshoek, Garden of Eden, Nature's Valley,
Wittedrift, Milkwood Trail (all within 20 km of Plett Central)
and the various trails in the Tsitsikamma National Park (70 km from Plett Central).
BUNJY-JUMPING - BLOUKRANS BRIDGE - 216m
(Highest Commercially Operating Bungy in the World)
1997 caused great excitement in the Bungy jumping fraternity
worldwide with the opening of the Face Adrenalin Bloukrans Bungy Jump.
Bloukrans is officially recognised by Guinness World Records as
being the World's Highest Commercial Bungy Jump at a whooping
216 m high! A proud record for South Africa and particularly,
the Plettenberg Bay, Garden Route.
Situated along the Garden
Route at the Tsitsikamma Forest Village Market, just 40km east
of Plettenberg Bay along the N2 Highway you will find the highest
single span arch bridge in the world. You can experience the thrill

OUR BEACHES
Plettenberg Bay boasts the best beaches on the Garden Route -
spanning more than 15 km of the Indian Ocean's shore.
Central Beach: Often the busiest beach in Plett. Life guards
on duty in season. It's the launch site for Marine Safaris,
dive charters and ocean kayaking tours and facilities
include restaurants, bars, public toilets and the local National
Sea Rescue Station. (2 km / 2 minutes from Plett Central)
Lookout Beach: Situated between Lookout Rocks and the mouth
of the Bitou River, it boasts a popular restaurant, public
toilets and plenty of parking (2 km / 2 minutes from Plett Central)
Robberg Beach: Popular for long - long - walks, Robberg Beach
stretches for kilometres between the Robberg Peninsula and
Beacon Island. Facilities include public toilets and various
parking areas - the closest being 2 km / 2 Minutes from Plett
Central.
Keurbooms Beach: A little wilder, but equally beautiful.
Facilities include a restaurant, public toilets and parking
(10 km / 15 from Plett Central).
SCENIC DRIVES & DAY TRIPS
- Kranshoek picnic site - overlooking cliffs and sea
(15 km / 20 minutes from Plett Central)
- Garden of Eden - picnic site, circular walk and Big Tree

- Prince Alfred Pass - sweeping mountain views along
